Phishing for your personal information
Verify before you buy! Be aware of the ongoing practice of email spam using recognized company names and trade marks for what pretends to be legitimate requests for your personal and financial information.
Tips to avoid theft of your finances, identity, good name and good credit
Verify Before You Buy. Verify you’re dealing with Pembridge Insurance Company or a Pembridge broker before you provide any personal and financial information by email and before you purchase insurance. Contact your Pembridge broker through Find a broker if you have any questions or concerns.
Don’t Respond
Don’t reply to email spam requesting personal and financial information. Responding provides your email address identity to fraudsters to use in the future on another scam or pass it along to others to abuse.
Recognize Fraud Scams
Email spam “phishing” is commonly known as “brand spoofing” or using company identity, including images and graphics, pretending to be a well-known, legitimate company. If it doesn’t sound legitimate, it’s not. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. Find out about some common fraud scams courtesy of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at www.phonebusters.com.
Protect Your Privacy. Protect your Identity. Protect your personal and financial information.
Don’t provide any information unless you have independently verified the identity of the person you are dealing with.
Report Fraud
