What is Operation Red Nose?
Operation Red Nose is a unique program dedicated to the fight against impaired driving. Essentially, it is a volunteer driving service provided during the December holiday season to all motorists who have been drinking or who do not feel fit to drive their own vehicle. It is an original way of getting a safe, free ride home and avoiding getting behind the wheel impaired.
Operation Red Nose has operated successfully for over two decades in Quebec. With the help of the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) and support for the charity, Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC), Operation Red Nose was launched in December 2005 in Ontario in the cites of Newmarket and Aurora. Pembridge joined the first Ontario service with road volunteers and accepted donations turned over in full to WICC.
Pembridge Insurance Company hits “nothing but net” with P.R.O. Kids
For the first time, Pembridge Insurance teamed up with P.R.O. Kids to be the Title Sponsor for this year’s High School Basketball Tournament in Saint John, NB. The tournament was also sponsored in part by Higgins General Insurance, a local independent insurance broker in Saint John that represents Pembridge.
P.R.O. Kids provides financial assistance to children and youth in need. Activities such as the arts, culture, recreation and sports are known to promote self-esteem, healthy growth, increased knowledge and personal development. This service matches children and youth up to the age of 18 with organized, registered recreation activities.
“Organized sport not only enhances the physical and social development of young people, it also fosters a strong sense of teamwork, leadership, competition and community,” said Bob Tisdale, President and COO. “As a father and an employer, these are the kinds of characteristics and strengths that I want my children to possess in our community and ones that I would look for in a future employee.”
Pembridge takes great pride in being able to give something back to the communities where we do business. It’s not every day we have the opportunity to participate in an event that impacts so many deserving children in such a wonderful way. We are honoured to be involved in a program that enables underprivileged youth, who wouldn’t have otherwise had the opportunity, to participate in a number of recreational activities.
Through 50/50 draws, registration and entry, this year’s tournament raised $6,400 for P.R.O. Kids.
Pembridge teams up with the Easter Seal Society
For the first time, Pembridge teamed up with The Easter Seal Society in Ontario by sponsoring this year’s annual Power Play hockey tournaments in Burlington, London and North Bay.
“Pembridge is very proud to be part of The Easter Seal Society team as the Presenting Sponsor of the Power Play event,” said Bob Tisdale. “Power Play is a tremendous event that helps raise a lot of money for Easter Seal Kids and it is inspiring to know that so many people throughout the community take the time to support such a worthy cause.”
The Easter Seal Society, Ontario or Easter Seals is a not-for-profit organization committed to helping children, youth and young adults with physical disabilities. The Power Play program invites teams in communities across Ontario to collect pledges and play in a 4-on-4 street hockey tournament in support of the Easter Seal’s purpose. This fundraising event will support disability solutions through financial assistance, summer camp, the Recreational Choices funding program, providing access to information and resources, and public education and awareness.

Pembridge teams up with S’port for Kids
On Saturday May 12, 2007, S’port for Kids hosted its S’port for Kids Foundation 2007 Gala Benefit Dinner in Markham, Ontario. Bob Tisdale, President and COO and Cathy Kendall, Region Director were joined by three Pembridge brokers; Gregory Ellis of KTX Insurance Solutions Ltd., Gary Pottruff of Pottruff & Smith Insurance Brokers Inc. and Joe Gallo of Northbrook Insurance Group Inc. at this annual event as a Corporate Gold Sponsor.
“We are very proud to be in the game as a Gold Sponsor again this year,” said Mr. Tisdale. “I have three boys and I can see first-hand that their development and growth into young men has been influenced by their participation in an organized sport.”
Pembridge looks forward to building community awareness of the beneficial effects of sport. S’port for Kids Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of young people in our disadvantaged communities through sports and team involvement. S’port for Kids is able to offer youth aged six to 18 a chance to get involved in organized sports and become part of a team.
“We are honoured to have Pembridge Insurance as one of our Gold Sponsors again,” said Alexander Yuan, Founder of S’port for Kids and member of the Fundraising Committee. “Without the support of good corporate citizens like Pembridge, S’port for Kids wouldn’t have the resources to reach out to the communities and make a positive change for our children.”
Pembridge will have the opportunity to help build bright futures and give hope to children while playing an integral part in strengthening the athletic presence in GTA communities. We look forward to making a difference in a positive way.
All net proceeds from the event went to the deserving youth involved in the organization. For more information on S’port for Kids visit their website at www.sportforkids.org.
Pembridge sponsors the Aurora Tigers
Team unity, sportsmanship and physical activity are some of the important attributes that team sports can instil in our youth. Hockey is no exception and that is exactly why Pembridge Insurance Company is again a proud sponsor of the Aurora Minor Hockey Association (ON) – home of the Aurora Tigers - for the fifth season in a row.
Throughout the years, The Pembridge sponsored Aurora Tigers teams have been extremely successful winning two OMHA Championships, one York-Simcoe Championship, and numerous tournaments across both Canada and the United States, including one gold medal in Lake Placid.
Pembridge’s very own President and C.O.O. Bob Tisdale has been there all along to coach the team with encouragement, support and valuable life lessons. This year Bob is coaching the Aurora Tigers Bantam A team. Bob believes that not only does the team build goodwill among the players but helps them to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Additionally, the sponsorship allows Pembridge the opportunity to support and participate in local events and uphold the values of the community which reflect our own corporate values: “Be a Team Player” and “Make it Happen”.
With the hockey season well on its way, we want to wish our sponsored team the best of luck.
GO Tigers GO!!
